Edwin's New Album Coming In March

Can-Rock heartthrob Edwin will be releasing his second solo album on March 19, 2002, according to a Sony Music Canada press release.

The first single from the yet-to-be-titled album will be a song called "Superhoney," which should be hitting radio station airwaves in January 2002.

Other tracks said to be included on the forthcoming album will be "Let's Dance" (presumably not a David Bowie cover), "Malibu" (presumably not a Hole cover), "Painkiller" (presumably not a Judas Priest cover), "Impossible" (presumably not a Buffalo Tom cover), "High" (presumably not a Cure cover), "Firecracker" (presumably not a Ryan Adams cover) and "Split The Atom (which we're reasonably confident is an original composition).

Edwin's first solo album, Another Spin Around The Sun, was a decided departure from his hard rock days as the frontman for the band I Mother Earth. The album was more of a pop-rock affair than his previous work. This gained him greater mainstream acceptance but alienated many of his more fist-pumping supporters from the IME days.

In related news, I Mother Earth have almost completed their latest record. Band member Bruce Gordon posted a message on IME's website last Wednesday, saying that the band has just written two new songs and that they're starting to work on the details of when their album will be released.

Of course, this all means that we could resurrect the IME vs. Edwin feud again, but seeing how neither side was willing to drop the gloves last round, we won't be expecting much when the bell sounds this time either.
